Since 1995, ‘The Clown Club’ Early Learning Center has been a model of internationally recognized ‘best practices’ in childcare and preschool. We serve children ages 0-5 from the local international and Dutch community, in separate groups for babies, toddlers & preschoolers, led in English or Dutch, by top-quality teaching professionals. We are recognized by both Dutch and European educational authorities for our outstanding staff and professional development program, as well as for our early years curriculum and our unique facility. We are located in a special monument, a school built for young children, located on beautiful Johan de Wittstraat in the center of Wassenaar, The Netherlands.
We are very proud of our teachers. All teachers have a Bachelor’s level diploma specialized to teach young children, as well as several graduate ‘Professional Development Certifications’ in relevant specialty areas. We far exceed the requirements of the Dutch ‘CAO’ that outlines quality controls for child care in The Netherlands. Several of our teachers have been with us for over 20 years. Many are former or current CC parents as well. Both the Toddler and Preschool groups have English-speaking teachers to model language development for children.
Every child is unique
We strive to meet the needs of each individual child. All children need a safe and secure environment full of loving care and of age-appropriate ‘toys’ and activities designed to encourage healthy development. Playful challenges are designed to build increased confidence and competence as the children grow from infants, through toddlers and into preschoolers. Of course attention is also placed on the individual within the group, as children learn to cooperate with others as they play, first alongside their friends, and eventually with their friends, as they join group activities throughout the day. It is wonderful to see happy, healthy children playing and learning together, and it is gratifying to support parents as well. We strive for open communication to best meet the needs of children and their parents. It really is a partnership, so communication is key.

Parents are always welcome! Throughout the year we offer a variety of opportunities for parents to get involved and spend time with their child’s friends and teachers. We host ‘playdates’ at school, and we go on outings. We invite parents to visit to read a book or to share a holiday tradition. We welcome parental involvement on many levels, and our parent committee welcomes new members, so come join the fun!
